Okay so I’m a little watching this movie for the first time considering it came out last year but regardless I am absolutely obsessed.

We screened this movie twice in two days and naturally knowing it’s based on a true story I had to do all the digging to find out what these girls were like in real life.

The article that inspired the movie is truly so well written and paints a really vivid picture of who the main character [Destiny] is in the real world.

The article is lengthy but if you’re a fan of the movie you’ll wish there was more to read by the end!

If you’ve been hanging around here with me for a while you’ll know that I’m a huge fan of podcasts, so much so that I often opt for a podcast over the radio or music.

One of my favourite podcasts Coffee Convos is coincidentally hosted by a reality TV show that I’ve watched religiously since it aired; Teen Mom 2 on MTV.

For those of you who aren’t sure what the heck I’m talking about, let me break it down. Kailyn Lowrey is one of the TV personalities on MTVs Teen Mom 2 franchise and she has a successful podcast with co-host Lindsay Christley which is Coffee Convos.

Now she has a brand new podcast with her eldest child step mom, Vee. Vee makes appearances on Teen Mom 2 but we’ve never gotten the opportunity to get to know her on this level and damn that girl is funny.

The podcast is called Baby Mamas No Drama and there’s about 6 episodes so far, all of which are hilarious and empowering. You’re gonna like what you hear 😉

YouTube has been slaying the game with originals lately and I’m so here for it!

I can’t get enough of their mini docu-series that gives you exclusive insight into the journeys and challenges the biggest celebrities of our generation have faced.

Tristan & I binged the Justin Beiber series and we can honestly say that we now understand his struggles & appreciate everything he’s given the world from such a young age. It’s kinda crazy to think about how close in age we are with him, I feel like we grew up listening to his music as he grew up too.

Oh and also if you didn’t ship him and Haley before I promise you will after you watch this! They are so darn cute and supportive of one another. Ugh, total couple goals y’all.

Hey hey everyone! It’s officially the weekend and I hope that you’re looking forward to whatever relaxing you’ve got going on or plans that you’re excited about.

If you’re anything like me regardless of having plans or nothing on the schedule, I always make time for relaxing which for me typically looks like snuggling on the couch with my girls and putting on a good movie or tv show. There are tons of ways that you can wind down, block out the world, and just have a little ‘me’ time. Among getting lost in a really good show or movie I also like to read [articles, books, blogs] and you all know how much I love a funny, light podcast!

This is your weekly collection of things to get lost in. To take you mind away from your anxieties. To really take time, pause, and do something you love to do.

Things you should read

Lately I’ve been more inclined to pick up a self-help book than I have been to dive into a fictional story. I’m going through a transitional time and growth is everything that I’m focusing on right now, so when my Fiancée ordered the book The Quarter Life Breakthrough I totally swiped it before she even got a chance to crack it open.

This book spoke to me because it is quite literally all about taking chances and growth, but more importantly it’s about taking chances when it comes to your career. Say goodbye to the old fashioned “climbing the corporate ladder” mindset, The Quarter Life Breakthrough explains a much more profound and logical pathway.

Things you should watch

I can’t even explain my excitement to you when I realized that Netflix had finally released the eleventh season of Modern Family. If you haven’t seen this award winning sitcom… run, don’t walk to your tv and put it on immediately.

For the time period that it began filming this show was so progressive in terms of diversity, inclusion, and family dynamics but all in an extremely lighthearted and hilarious way. The show is such an easy watch because the episodes are about 20-25 minutes long and the storyline isn’t so deep or complicated that you wouldn’t be able to follow along mid-season- although Netflix has ’em all!

You’ll fall in love with the characters and trust me you’ll be needing tissues by the end of the eleventh season! If you’re anything like me and get attached to the characters you won’t want it to end.

Things you should listen to

Its been a while since I updated you on the podcasts that I’ve been enjoying lately and since the last update I’ve discovered a few favourites but you’ll need all weekend [and more] to catch up on The Morning Toast. There are tons of episodes because they record and release a podcast everyday Mon-Fri!

My guilty pleasure [one of many] is catching up on celebrity gossip, mix that in with two stellar personalities and some funny life stories/moments and I’m hooked. Which if you haven’t already assumed is exactly what The Morning Toast is.

The coolest thing about this podcast is that they broadcast the taping live on Youtube! So if you’re more of a visual person and you want to put a face to the voice you’re hearing you can always tune into that platform as well.

Coffee Convos: hello 2020

I can’t believe that we are officially into 2020, an entirely new decade. I am so excited for the new year and I have so many exciting things to look forward to- a new year full of new things and new ideas coming to life.

This coffee convo is all about whats coming up in this new year, and I am so excited to share all the big news. Come join me, grab a nice hot cuppa and curl up for a catch up!

We’re moving again

Tristan & I are moving into a new place and we couldn’t be more excited! The space we are in now worked for the meantime and it was a great experience for our first time out on our own but our new place is definitely an upgrade.

We are moving this February and are in full on brainstorming mode for how we want the space to look! We’ve been constantly browsing through furniture and decor pieces for weeks now, and even managed to score a few things on sale throughout the holiday season.

Starting my doula training

The countdown to March is on, because that is when my doula (aka maternal support practitioner) training starts!

Ever since deciding what I wanted to do with my life during my last year of high school, working within the maternal world was always my plan and to finally see that coming to fruition in 2020 is absolutely soul-fulfilling.

Jumping into blogging and social media

This year I want to stay consistent when it comes to blogging and keeping up with social media. Over the course of this year I’ve found that there have been times that I’m very active on the blog and socials but then theres times where I completely ghost the internet world.

I want to figure out a proper blogging schedule over here on Nicole’s Niches so you all know when to expect posts and I’ll stop keeping you guessing! I also am making a vow to check in on the socials at least once daily.

new look + New series on the blog

If you haven’t noticed, I have officially dropped the “wordpress” from my URL. We are self hosted baby! Along with purchasing myself a domain, I also refreshed the look of Nicole’s Niches with a brand new theme. If you haven’t had a chance yet be sure to check it out!

With a brand new shiny domain and completely new look- comes new series that will be launching on the blog. I’m sure you all know by now that I’m extremely passionate about Home + Decorating so inspired by that I’m starting a new series on the blog that I’m sure will blossom into many others. Stay tuned for the launch, until then it’s a under wraps.

Podcast possibilities

Podcasts are seriously one of my favourite things to listen to, and I have always been intrigued when it comes to starting my own. I have thought about it a lot, have picked out a name, and even know exactly who I want as a co-host. However getting said person to agree and commit to said podcast is still in progress.

My favourite types of podcast to listen to is two friends (or group of friends) who just bullshit about everything and anything, tell funny stories about their lives, and spill the tea on celeb gossip and that is exactly what I want to do.

I’m hopeful that this dream of mine will come alive in 2020, I’m manifesting it so hard y’all.
