3 Outfits to wear in Wine Country

Next Stop? Wine Country. Summer is here and I’m ready to explore the local winery’s that boast Southern Ontario’s lake region! Before we go however, we are definitely going to need more than one pretty outfit – just in case we get a little too tipsy and we spill on our favourite dress. More importantly for the abundance of instagrammable opportunities! Let’s admit that it’ll more than likely be a bit of both though, lol.

Hi loves! I hope you’re all doing well🤍

I’m so ready to pause, sit down with a cup of coffee, and have a chit chat with you guys. These are some of my favourite posts because it allows me to connect with y’all [and vice versa] on a more personal level.

Over the past couple of weeks there’s been a lot of exciting things that have brought positivity and more importantly motivation into fruition for me! I can’t wait to share these moments with you, alongside the crazy happenings that take place inside the McKay household that I think will make you laugh [or at least smile, lol]. Cosy up with me and let’s catch up!

Our little Penny is officially a women. Last weekend she went into heat and it’s been a long week of cleaning, I’ll tell ya that. We’ve never had to deal with anything like this because we were able to get Bella fixed before she experienced a heat. With the pandemic and everything being backlogged we haven’t had the same situation with Penny, but hopefully this is the one and only heat we’ll have to navigate through!

We finally got Crave and I regret not subscribing to it sooner! It has so many of our favourite throwback shows like 16 and pregnant, friends, and the Big Bang theory! It’s been so nice to have some thing else to watch other than the repetitious shows on Netflix.

We also spent much needed time finishing our master bedroom, it was the only room we really haven’t focused on decorating for some odd reason. It looks so great and I can’t wait to reveal it in a more detailed post!

Getting crave and making our room feel put together and cosy were definitely essentials for lockdown 2.0 here in Ontario that has been extended into February. We haven’t been effected too much but like everyone else we are patiently awaiting the vaccine to become available to the general public. I don’t even remember what a normal world feels like but I’m hopeful it’s within reach.

This year is the year of consistency and so far it’s been really rewarding, especially when it comes to social media and growth. I’ve been posting daily on my IG grid and within two weeks I went from around 400 followers to just over 900! I’ve also gained some new readers since implementing a concrete posting schedule, planning out my content ahead of time allows me to really focus on putting out quality content!

One of my goals is to become a full time blogger while I study for a new career and the process has been a learning curve but I’m starting to see some progress! I was finally accepted to WordAds which places ads on my blog and whenever it gains traction I earn commission! I want to thank everyone for reading my blog posts and supporting my goals by being okay with seeing some ads- you’re the reason why I do this!

A few other cool things I’ve started to do is incorporate hygge inspired home on a new IG account @hyggehomeaesthetic— an extension of Cosy Culture Co! All you have to do to be featured is use the hashtag #cosyculturehomes! I also post a lot of the decor that’s seen in these gorgeous homes on the Cosy Culture Home LTK! If you’re more into fashion and my everyday looks, follow my main LTK here.

In other happy news babe got her new car finally. The process with the insurance company took over a month [long story] and I’m so glad we can move on and no longer have to share a car! Some type of normalcy has been restored, despite the world still being weird, lol.

What have you guys been up to the past couple weeks?

Xx

Christmas Poll– here’s what my followers had to say!

Helloooo everyone!

If you follow me over on IG [@cosycultureco] you probably saw over the weekend that I hosted a Christmas themed poll on my stories to see what all my lovely followers had to say about the holidays! It was so fun interacting with you guys, and I loved reading all the answers- I hope you do too!

here’s what my followers had to say

The majority of my followers do take part in celebrating Christmas! That 8% you see came from my mother-in-law haha she loves to joke around but she will in fact be celebrating with us this year.

If I had the space [and the funds] I would definitely side with the latter and go all out when it comes to my holiday decor. However minimal design is all the rage this year and I know not many are feeling very festive due to the pandemic– so to me this totally makes sense.

Question: Favourite Christmas movie?
Answer: Two people answered and said The Grinch

Faux trees seem to be the most popular among my followers and I can totally relate! They are less to upkeep, can be used year after year and come in many varieties and styles!

The purpose of this question is a precursor for the next question that I ask.

Question: Do you participate in the Santa Clause Tradition? Why or why not?
Answer: One of my followers responded and said YES they do follow the Santa Clause Tradition however her twins aren’t quite old enough to grasp it yet.

What are your responses to the questions and polls featured in this post? Leave your answers in the comment section below! Keep an eye out on @cosycultureco’s IG to participate in the next poll!

February Favourites

Hey guys! Late again with the monthly favourites, I know I know– I promised to do better and I’ll step it up for next month.

With February being a short month (even with the leap year) I feel like it was also a slow month when it comes to my favourites. Nonetheless, I still have a few things that I’ve discovered this month that are worth sharing so let’s dive in!

Tv Shows

+ Call the Midwife

My gf tried to get me to watch this show a while back and boy do I regret not listening to her. For someone who originally wanted (and still do) to become a Midwife, I don’t know why the title alone didn’t scream out to me.

This show is on BBC (British Broadcasting Channel) and is set in England in the 1950’s. You’ll fall in love with each characters personality and be silently routing for your faves. If you love birth, history, drama, and comedy then this will be right up your ally.

You can find this wonderful show and all of its 8 seasons on Netflix! They are currently still taping this series, and are in the middle on season 9!

+ Cheer

This show changed my entire perspective on Cheerleading. These athletes are seriously put through the wringer, mentally and physically but come out as champions.

It was amazing to see everything that goes into the sport, and it was sincerely touching to hear the stories of some of the members of the team and how being on the team changed their life for the better. Also meeting Monica (the head coach) was surreal, she’s a powerhouse and I wish she was my Mom lol.

One episode and you’ll be hooked I promise! You can find this 6-part documentary on Netflix!

+ That 70’s Show

Of course it wouldn’t be a proper favourites post if I didn’t post about a throwback TV show. Usually I have FRIENDS playing in the background all day everyday, but lately I’ve been mixing it up and playing something a little different.

This show is so funny and it reminds me of my Dad + Brother because they also love this show. It’s great because just like FRIENDS it’s easy to just turn it on and have it in the background for white noise but when you want to tune in you don’t have to necessarily follow the entire storyline to know whats going on.

This show has 8 seasons and they are all available on Netflix!

+ Keurig

In case you missed my IG post, let me fill you in here about how much I love my Keurig. I got it around my birthday this year and its been receiving waaay too much use since.

I love how easy it is to brew a single cup and how fast it brews! I love my Tim Hortons coffee and its great that you can use reusable pods in the machine so that you can still invest in the bulk tin of coffee while also being environmentally conscious.

Beauty

+ St Ives body wash

Recently I ran out of body wash, so I decided to try something new. Usually I try to avoid St. Ives because I’ve heard so many controversial things about the company but this body wash happens to be PETA certified cruelty-free, paraban-free, made with plant-based cleaners, and they use they use 100% recycled plastic bottles for their packaging!

It smells ah-mayyyy-zing and makes my skin so soft because it’s also a natural exfoliant that is super gentle but definitely shows you a noticeable difference!

St. Ives Pink Lemon & Mandarin Orange Exfoliating Body Wash 22 oz

+ kush mascara

This past Christmas (or was it my birthday? They’re too close together, oops) my gf gifted me this mascara and it’s been my go-to ever since. I swear that since it’s infused with hemp-derived cannabis seed oil my eyelashes have actually grown from using it.

Not to mention the length and volume that this mascara gives me with such little product- this is great because you don’t have to apply multiple layers and risk it clumping your eyelashes together.

Apps

+ Cozi calendar

Do you and your spouse/kids have opposite schedules or such busy schedules that it’s hard to keep up with each other? This app is amazing and will help to solve all of your problems.

Cozi Calendar is an app that allows you to add multiple members of your family (under one username and password, so convenient) to one calendar and colour codes each event according to who it belongs to! No more guessing.

That wraps up February’s favourites! I hope that you were able to find something new to watch, listen to, or put into your amazon cart.

Let me know what your favourites in February were in the comment section below!

To my fellow bloggers— if you have a February Favourites blog post leave the link in the comment section, I’d love to check it out!

As always,

Nicole

Coffee Convos: update on the daily chaos

Helllllo everyone!

I hope this post is finding you well, and that you’re all doing lovely. If you’re new here I’m Nicole and Coffee Convos is where you’ll find all my ramblings, thoughts, and updates on whats been going on in this crazy life of mine- its basically unscripted, if you will.

For those of you who are returning, welcome back! Cozy on up with a cuppa and settle in for a catch up with yours truly.

Settling in

Since the last coffee convos post we actually moved into our new home! We are so excited and happy with it, and are over the moon about how much we upgraded.

We moved in on January 30th (wow almost a month already!) and ever since we’ve slowly been settling in more and more, putting more and more on the walls and buying more furniture pieces. Whoever said Rome wasn’t built in a day was right, I never thought that I would still be decorating nearly a month after moving in!

We’re taking our time to really pick out furniture and decor pieces that work with the space, as well as spread out the expense of decorating the entire place at once. So far its been going great but I’m eager to declare when the apartment is fully settled so that I can give you all a home tour!

email subscription

In case you missed my announcement on social media, let’s catch up about my new email subscription list.

Since I have so many things on the go constantly from social media to the blog to the Etsy shop- it gets a little wild to keep up with sometimes on my end let alone yours! I thought that it would be easier to catch you up with what I’ve been up to on the interweb with weekly email updates!

The email structure will obviously be loose and depend on the content that I post weekly, but it will include:

  • all IG posts and blog posts that you may have missed
  • all my favourite products that are currently on sale
  • freebies and downloadable prints
  • and anything else that I feel is relevant to mention

If you’d like to subscribe to the email list click HERE.

stepping up my ig game

Thanks to many of the amazing bloggers that I follow sharing their tips and tricks for IG, I feel like I’ve been able to take my posts to the next level. My editing has gotten a lot better and I’m trying to stay within the same colour scheme, but that ones still a work in progress.

I’ve made a lot of head way when it comes to consistency on IG, if I don’t post on the grid I’m always posting stories! When it comes to the grid I make sure that I’ve been posting at least once weekly for the past couple of weeks and to my surprise the views to my page have gone up by 15%.

I’m going to continue to put in a daily effort to check in with IG, whether that means posting or commenting on others posts- because thats just as important. Hopefully we’ll see my following continue to grow and my content get more creative with each post.

Five and a half years!

As of February 17th, Tristan and I have officially been together for five and a half years! I can’t believe that it’s almost been six years, it’s true when they say that time flies when you’re in love with your best friend ♡

blogging goals

This year I really vowed to give my all to blogging and lately I’ve been able to outline some goals that I think are totally tangible.

+ beat my all time views per month from last year

+ raise my following

+ post a least two blog posts weekly

I have very high hopes that I’ll be able to reach all these goals- in fact I’m already seeing progress with my all time views goal!

Nicole
