Bucket List: The June Motel

If you have been searching for the cutest boho, vintage themed place to stay on your vacation to Ontario, Canada you are going to be so excited about The June Motel.

I added this little gem to my bucket list the moment I spotted it on Instagram, how could you not fall in love with this decor?

peace love wine

The June Motel is truly a one of kind unique find, and it’s located in Prince Edward County in Picton, Ontario, Canada. When the owners discovered the property that is now the beautiful June Motel it was actually a mid-century motor lodge! Who would have known, based on how breathtaking it looks now!

WE DUSTED IT OFF AND ARE REINVENTING THE MOTEL EXPERIENCE. WITH A PENCHANT
FOR GREAT WINE AND GOOD VIBES, WE’RE A HIP 16-ROOM MOTEL WITH A CURATED MENU OF SERVICES DESIGNED TO MAKE YOUR STAY IN WINE COUNTRY UNFORGETTABLE.

When it comes to the rooms, they have four gorgeous cozy options each equip an abundant of amenities to make you feel as if you were right at home. Not to mention the room choices even have the most adorable names- seriously you guys this place can not get any cuter.

the classic

The first of the rooms is called The Classic. It’s very boho in style yet classic and clean as well. The touches of decor really pull the space together and it’s very modern yet vintage at the same time which I absolutely love- that’s the vibe I try to create in my own home. This rooms includes a queen sized bed (which I just want to dive into, how comfy does it look ya’ll?!) your very own private balcony, a den with a sofa, mini wine bar fridge, and so many more things that every hotel/motel should offer.

wine studio

Calling all wine lovers and their bestie! This room is called the Wine Studio and the name definitely doesn’t hold back, it is the perfect wine studio getaway for you and a friend. Again the vintage and bohemian style is carried throughout the whole motel, but this room also incorporates a beach-y feel. Located on the lower level it has two double beds, and a private kitchenette perfect for whipping up snacks after wine has fully hit 😉

deluxe wine studio

If you though the Wine Studio was calling your name but you have more than one bestie (because lets face it, we all have a girl squad) then you’ll be happy to hear about the Deluxe Wine Studio that sleeps up to 5 people! This room has more of a modern day vibe to it, but nonetheless it’s still an amazing space to drink wine and unwind. This room includes two double beds, with a pull-out sofa bed as well, it’s own private kitchenette, and a fully renovated bathroom!

Rosé suite

Last but definitely not least I think this is my favourite room of them all. The Rosé Suite is a girly girls dream! The stunning vibrant wall paper, the little touches of decor, the furniture places so elegantly.. every quality that takes my breath away is in this room. It not only features a queen bed, and a set of bunk beds (sleeping 4-5 people) but it also has its very own Rosé bar!

sweat well

Apparently at The June Motel it’s possible to even sweat well. Meaning get out and exercise that beautiful body of yours!

We’re lucky to be surrounded by great county roads, hiking trails and lakes. A trip to The County isn’t complete without taking full advantage of the outdoors. No matter what you’re into, we can help get you moving.

They offer yoga every Saturday morning, as well as kayaking adventures among cycling, hiking, and running of course.

one day

I’m hoping in the next few years, once I’ve really settled into ‘adulting’ I can make the trip to this dreamy motel and check it off my bucket list. Although I’ll probably have to book the trip about a year in advance LOL, no surprise that this place fills up quickly!

Bucket list: The Ivy Chelsea Garden

Flowers, England, and a great view. Three of my very favourite things.

Although I’ve never been to England, it’s among the many places that my heart absolutely desires to travel to. My heritage can be traced back to the United Kingdom, and I’ve always felt a longing to go and travel the lands where my ancestors came from.

Naturally (me being me) I spend loads of time either looking on Instagram for cool places in the UK, reading blogs from people who live in the UK, or just google searching the historical background of specific places in the UK. While I was doing one of those three things I came across this breath taking restaurant that made it to the top of my bucket list. It is without a doubt the most gorgeous and Insta worthy place that I’m sure photos don’t even do justice.

The Ivy Chelsea Garden is the cutest yet elegant all day casual dining restaurant in the heart of posh Chelsea, London (did I use that word right?)

Located on London’s enduringly desirable King’s Road, The Ivy Chelsea Garden brings the familiar luxury of The Ivy on West Street to a relaxed yet sophisticated all-day dining restaurant in the heart of Chelsea.

– theivychelseagarden.com

For those of you like myself who did not understand the hype of the neighbourhood Chelsea, this is what I found on Trip Advisor:

A neighborhood in London that is known for King’s Road and Carnaby Street in Soho, which formed the center of “Swinging London” in the Sixties.

Whatever it’s known for, it sure does look fancy!

Okay now that we know a little bit about Chelsea, lets swoon over the restaurant located in the heart of it- that captured my heart.

The first thing that caught my attention about The Ivy Chelsea Garden is their mouth-dropping extensive terrace and garden. It is filled with plants and aesthetics that will make your eye balls so happy. It’s so vibrant and dreamy, a picture lovers dream come true.

The garden is open during the summer season, from 12p-10p 7 days a week! I would seriously spend everyday here, on the terrace surrounding by plants reading a book if I could.

The garden and terrace feature classic design elements, including arched antique mirrors, leafy trellises and an eclectic mix of antique pots and planters to complement magnolias, hydrangeas, cyclamens and Boston ferns amongst others, making the garden relaxed and luscious. Our beautiful terrace will welcome you with its upholstered velvet chairs and cushions, flickering candles & cosy rugs, and a central fountain in the garden, making it the perfect spot for your lunches, afternoon teas and dinners all year around.

I know you’re thinking okkkaaayy does it get better than this?

Why yes, yes it does.

The aesthetically pleasing restaurant doesn’t let you down when you step inside, it’s just as beautiful as the garden and the terrace.

Aesthetic aside, the menu looks impeccable. Just from reading their menu online my mouth is watering, book my flight right to The Ivy Chelsea Garden please!

They have four main menus that go as followed:

Breakfast
Monday- Friday 8a-11:30a
Saturday 8a-11a
Sunday 9a-11a

A La Carte
Monday-Friday 11:30a-11p
Saturday 4p-11:30p
Sunday 4p-10:30p

Weekend Brunch
Saturday, Sunday 11a-4p

Brunch Waffles

and of course Desserts.

If you need a perfect spot to host a celebration or party, you’ll be obsessed with the private dining room.

Depending on what type of tables you want (one long rectangle table or 3 smaller round tables) this amazing room fits 24-30 of your favourite people. It’s available for breakfast, lunch as well as dinner and also provides you with a Canapé reception that holds up to 50 people!!!

Decorated in a similar style to The Ivy Chelsea Garden, the walls of The Private Room are adorned with colourful vintage botanical prints and sumptuous floral artwork. The bespoke patterned white Carrara and Fior de Pesco grey marble tiled flooring, eclectic mix of vintage dining chairs upholstered with bold floral and palm printed fabric and hanging gilt leaf pendants add a touch of glamour to the room.

Are you sold? I was from the very first picture I saw of this magical place.

Coffee Convos: hello 2020

Hello loves! ♥︎

I can’t believe that we are officially into 2020, an entirely new decade. I am so excited for the new year and I have so many exciting things to look forward to- a new year full of new things and new ideas coming to life.

This coffee convo is all about whats coming up in this new year, and I am so excited to share all the big news. Come join me, grab a nice hot cuppa and curl up for a catch up!

We’re moving again

Tristan & I are moving into a new place and we couldn’t be more excited! The space we are in now worked for the meantime and it was a great experience for our first time out on our own but our new place is definitely an upgrade.

We are moving this February and are in full on brainstorming mode for how we want the space to look! We’ve been constantly browsing through furniture and decor pieces for weeks now, and even managed to score a few things on sale throughout the holiday season.

Starting my doula training

The countdown to March is on, because that is when my doula (aka maternal support practitioner) training starts!

Ever since deciding what I wanted to do with my life during my last year of high school, working within the maternal world was always my plan and to finally see that coming to fruition in 2020 is absolutely soul-fulfilling.

Jumping into blogging and social media

This year I want to stay consistent when it comes to blogging and keeping up with social media. Over the course of this year I’ve found that there have been times that I’m very active on the blog and socials but then theres times where I completely ghost the internet world.

I want to figure out a proper blogging schedule over here on Nicole’s Niches so you all know when to expect posts and I’ll stop keeping you guessing! I also am making a vow to check in on the socials at least once daily.

new look + New series on the blog

If you haven’t noticed, I have officially dropped the “wordpress” from my URL. We are self hosted baby! Along with purchasing myself a domain, I also refreshed the look of Nicole’s Niches with a brand new theme. If you haven’t had a chance yet be sure to check it out!

With a brand new shiny domain and completely new look- comes new series that will be launching on the blog. I’m sure you all know by now that I’m extremely passionate about Home + Decorating so inspired by that I’m starting a new series on the blog that I’m sure will blossom into many others. Stay tuned for the launch, until then it’s a under wraps.

Podcast possibilities

Podcasts are seriously one of my favourite things to listen to, and I have always been intrigued when it comes to starting my own. I have thought about it a lot, have picked out a name, and even know exactly who I want as a co-host. However getting said person to agree and commit to said podcast is still in progress.

My favourite types of podcast to listen to is two friends (or group of friends) who just bullshit about everything and anything, tell funny stories about their lives, and spill the tea on celeb gossip and that is exactly what I want to do.

I’m hopeful that this dream of mine will come alive in 2020, I’m manifesting it so hard y’all.

Now you’re all caught up! Whats been going on lately with you guys? Let me know in the comment section below 🙂

As always,

Nicole

Essentials for gettin’ cozy this fall

When the weather gets colder and dreary and the sun starts to set earlier, it’s the best feeling in the world to just cuddle up and be cozy-especially with the person you love the most! Although thats super wonderful in itself, there are a few things that make curling on those crisp chilly days a little better- things that I can’t get enough of this time of year, and totally help set the Fall mood.

Candles

Don’t get me wrong, I love a good candle all year round, however I find myself lighting it daily during the colder months. Theres something about the ambiance that a candle creates that sets the mood and makes curling up soothing and dreamy.

Some people have their favourite fall scents, I’m not a huge fan of the apple/cinnamon scent (I know I know I’m super weird) which seems to be the most popular. I just burn whatever I have on hand, I typically have candles in bulk (my girlfriend always makes sure the house is stocked) and they are more than usually from Yankee Candle or Bath and Body Works!

Fluffy fuzzy blankets

My girlfriend would tell you that I have a blanket addiction, but I say that you can never have too many fluffy throws. I have at least two throw blankets on my couch at all times, one at the end of my bed, two in the Papasan chair, and my animals even have their own blankets in their bed.

You can’t get cozy without a soft blanket to curl up in to keep you warm, because being cold is so not ideal- especially when it’s already so cold and nippy outside. Also, what is better than being surrounded by something so plush, soft, and fuzzy?

The right lighting

Speaking of the ambiance of candles, the right lighting can create the perfect vibe for getting cozy. I happen to have the cutest decor that is also soft lighting, and it is not only aesthetically pleasing but definitely sets the mood.

Think fairy lights, string lights, salt lamps, lava lamps– you know where I’m going with this. Anything but the overhead light thats often way too bright for the cozy vibe that you’re going for.

Cozy sweats

Again, just like a candle, I love a good pair of oversized cozy sweats all year round but I find myself throwing them on more often during these cold, bitter months.

Thankfully, my girlfriend has an impeccable sweatshirt collection, and she knows how to keep them super soft so obviously my stealing them has been a thing in our relationship since day one.

Moral of this story- steal your significant others sweatshirts, and then cuddle up with them this cozy fall.

Coffee Convos: Update

Hey everyone ♡!

It’s been a while since I’ve sat down with a nice cup of coffee and updated everyone on the latest happenings of my chaotic (but beautiful) life. Come join me, grab a nice hot cuppa and curl up for a catch up!

movin’ on out

This past summer I officially moved out of my Moms house and into my very own apartment! The transition couldn’t have gone any better thanks to my amazing family, lovely girlfriend, and future mother-in-law.

At first I was terrified of being on my own 50% of the time (the girlfriend is at the apartment the other 50% of the time) but the freedom that I feel trumps all the fear that I experienced.

Of course I can’t say that its the most aesthetically pleasing space, but hey, your first place isn’t suppose to be. It’s definitely taught me the things that I must have in my next home, which we will hopefully own and could quite possibly be a reality within the next couple of months. Eeeek how exciting.

a new furry friend

When I first got my dog Bella, I was 18 and obviously living at home with my Mom. Since Bella was a puppy she’s used to someone always being around, or she had my cousins dog that kept her company as he also lived with us.

When I moved into the apartment, she wasn’t used to being alone when I had to leave for work and as a result started suffering from separation anxiety. This manifested in her chewing up anything that I left laying around, and digging at the carpet.

We’ve always talked about getting a kitten once we got our own place, and then Bella needing a companion just sealed the deal. Meet Bean aka Beanie.

He’s a handsome little devil full of spunk but even more full of love and cuddles. He’s truly been an amazing addition to our little family, and we are so glad that we got him. Bella is equally as happy, and she has adjusted great to being left home alone since we got Bean. I’m happy to report that I haven’t been coming home to anything chewed up!

They love to play together, and eat each others food- like brother and sister do. We aren’t quite at the cuddling stage yet, but sometimes they get really close. He’s grown so much since we brought him home and he is officially the same size as his sister, they’re both 7 pounds but we suspect he will eventually be bigger then her.

a new job

Back in May I got the opportunity of a lifetime, to work at a clinic that specializes in pregnancy and infant massage as well as general maternal care (childbirth education, doula services, pelvic health treatment, etc) and you guys know I am a birth nerd.

Despite this job being 30 minutes away from my home town meaning that I now have to commute it absolutely is where I am meant to be. I feel so at home and in my element and I adore the people that I work with.

Next up: my doula (maternal support practitioner) certification!

Now you’re all caught up with the most mentionable moments that have happened over the past few months.

What have you guys been up to?

As always,

Nicole
