Oh Sundaze // 07.18.21

Hey everyone! I hope you’re having a fantastic weekend and the weather stayed nice wherever you’re reading this from! I figured we were long over due for a catch-up and while I’m at it I owe you guys an explanation as well. Grab a cuppa and curl up for a catch up with ya girllll.

Over the past two weeks I haven’t really been posting on my regular scheduled dates because I’ve honestly lacked the motivation & inspiration. I told myself this summer will be “slow” by choice. I plan to spend the next two months living and working at a slower pace, writing and creating when I feel inspired, but ultimately listening to my body and resting/ relaxing when I need to.

I’ve explained in this post the ways that I’ve been slowly but surely improving my mental health and changing bad habits. I think that taking this summer slow really plays into that process and hopefully I’ll be able to carry forward what I learn into my everyday life even once summer has faded. So with that being said – I’m still here! Just takin’ it a little slower these days.

You all should know our baby Penny by now. She’s a red Boston terrier and we just love her so!

Penny the red Boston terrier

Our plan was to get her fixed ASAP like we did with our other animals however covid (and the universe) ultimately had a different plan. Since everything was forced to shut down the backlog it caused for the procedure was astronomical and after a ton of research we’ve decided we are going to breed her within the next few months!

Tristan grew up alongside her Grandpa raising and breeding huskeys so she’s extremely passionate about doing this and we couldn’t be more excited for puppies!!

school update

In my last oh Sundaze post I told you guys that I took a huge leap and enrolled in the real estate program through Humber College. It’s been going really well so far although it is a ton of information to get through, my brain has been tired lol. I’m happy to let you all know that I passed my first exam (one of four) and I’m not onto the next step in the learning process!

I’m so excited to launch myself into this new career with an amazing established team to support me. I’ve managed to sign on with a brokerage and this past Wednesday we had a ‘new’ agent team meeting and I both loved & soaked up every minute of it. I’ve never been apart of a team of people so warm, welcoming, and ready to help with anything and everything they can – and when I thought I was briefly in the past I got royally fucked over. And on that note – onto bigger and better things!

date night at the drive-in

Things are finally starting to return to normal and restrictions are being lifted here in Ontario so of course we took advantage and went to the drive-in movie theatre! It was such a fun night, we made a little bed in the back of Tristan’s hatchback, added some fairy lights, loaded up on snacks, and watched two amazing movies.

We saw Black Widow, which as a huge marvel fan was highly anticipated, and Cruella. Both were phenomenal and I honestly couldn’t pick a favourite if I tried, however I have to give it to Emma Stone for her portrayal of Cruella – she fucking killed it and the level of talent… I can’t even.

I also made a cute little Tiktok of our date night if you wanna check it out HERE 🙂

severe weather

This past week there was a devastating tornado that passed through the south end of my town and destroyed multiple homes. We were very lucky to not be effected nor have any loved ones effected however it was still a traumatic event and our hearts go out to those who were.

In our end we just got extreme showers and thundering/lighting, with a little bit of wind but nothing we haven’t ever seen before. No one expected it but so far there have been no fatalities and our community has come together to support the families without a home right now. It’s beautiful to see the outpouring love and donations! #BarrieStrong

joined the Apple Watch club

I’m not someone who jumps in line to get the latest tech releases, generally using what I have until it breaks – if it ain’t broke don’t fix it, right?

Although Apple watches have been around for what seems like forever now [how did we live without them before??] I’ve never had the privilege of owning one… until now!

My amazing MIL was gifted a new series six and she was kind enough to pass her series four down to me! I’m still getting the hang of it and figuring out the nifty things I can do with it but so far I absolutely am obsessed! I can’t wait to buy some cute bands, send me your suggestions!

Oh Sundaze: 04.25.21

Happy Sunday friends! I hope you had a fantastic weekend. It’s been a few since I’ve caught you up on what’s been going on over in my little corner of the universe so grab a cuppa and curl up! There’s been some celebrations and lots of DIY projects that I’m excited to share.

Tristan’s 24th birthday was this past Thursday and we celebrated on the day and on Saturday – she’s a lucky girl. On Wednesday night I stayed up to decorate for her and I pretty much did all the decorations myself using cardboard, paint, some craft paper, card stock and my cricut maker [all things I already had in my arsenal of supplies].

On Saturday Tristan’s Mom brought over this gorgeous double chocolate cake with buttercream icing and it was heavenly. We all enjoyed more than one piece – if that wasn’t already obvious lol.

There’s been some major DIY inspiration happening over here and I have a couple projects on the go. To start I’ve collected a handful of tree stumps/logs that I’m honestly not quite sure what to do with yet but I’m thinking something along the lines of an outdoor table.

The console table that we currently have I loath entirely so a quick scroll on Pinterest made me realize I could easily make my own with pieces of scrap wood I already have. I’m about half way done because the weather keeps delaying my progress but stay posted for a full post on what steps I took to build it and how you can do the same!

The inspiration

Ontario is still under a stay-at-home order so there’s not a ton to do but thankfully the greenhouses are still open and it’s nice to at least get out of the house & have a change of scenery. We picked up some grass seed to fill in some of the patchy spots in our yard but other than that they didn’t have much out yet. I did manage to find this super cute ivy wall that made the perfect backdrop for a photo!

We’re still steaming Shameless on Netflix and now we’re into season nine. With two more seasons to go I will admit that the show has started to slow down with the storylines of each character doing their own thing as opposed to being together as the Gallagher clan we know and love. Despite this I still really enjoy it and am excited to see it to the end.

I recently finished reading home body by Rupi Kaur which is the third book in her poetry series and I loved it just as much as her first two instalments. This book solidified the fact that everything I need to be successful & happy is already within me – where I am is where I’m meant to be. I’m not sure what I’m gonna read next because I have way too many books on my shelf waiting to be read but I’m thinking The Birth House by Amy McKay.

This past week I discovered my new favourite beauty product, the Kiss Falscara lash kit system. They’re salon quality lashes that you can do from home and also dupe as eyelash extensions! I love them so much I don’t think it’ll ever wear mascara again. Look out for a full review and how to to use these gorgeous lashes coming atcha this Tuesday!

That’s all I have for you this week my loves! Let me know what you’ve all been up to in the comment section!

Sundaze // 12.13.20

Hiii loves! I hope that you’re enjoying your weekend and have rested and recharged for the week ahead!

It’s been way too long since I’ve sat down and updated you with a chatty post about what’s new with me and let me just tell you it’s been very busy in this household. There’s been some big changes and some bumps in the road but there’s also been some pretty great moments and achievements that are definitely worth mentioning.

Let’s get into it! Grab a cuppa, curl up, and lets catch up!

New Roommate!

One of the biggest changes that occurred over the past month was my brother moving in with Tristan & I full time. It was definitely a sudden move however we are so happy to have him here with us! We’ve been working on slowly transforming our guest bedroom into something less girly for him, and it’s really coming along. We’ve ordered some pretty awesome electronic gadgets [that I’ll be sharing in a later post] and custom made a shelve to hang under his TV for his playstation and whatnot. We still have a few items to grab and check off the list but I think it’s looking really good!

Tristan’s Car Accident

On Wednesday last week, Tristan had a car accident very early in the morning and although she is okay [which ultimately is all that matters] her car is not.

We’re waiting to hear back but from our insurance company but from what we know of at this moment it sounds like it’s going to be a total loss. Bittersweet because we definitely had plans for her car to be passed down to me and kept in our family. On the bright side it’s looking like she is going to get a new car!

Officially Started the Rebrand

This past week I announced that I’ve officially started the rebrand roll-out for Cosy Culture Co previously known as Nicole’s Niches.

So far the process has gone really well! All my handles for socials are successfully switched over as well as my logos and branding.

The last bit that is yet to be complete is switching over the website domain which is coming up for renewal at the end of December. That will officially be the end of Nicole’s Niches and I’m so excited to move onto this new chapter!

New Partnerships

I’m excited to be working with not one but two new brands that I’m positive you guys will love as much as I do. Think home decor and the best tool to help you stay organized!

I’ll be doing an in-depth post on each company later this week, so keep an eye out for that as well as some exclusive discount codes available to my readers only.

Sales Sales Sales

Between Poshmark and Etsy orders I’ve been running to the post office a ton in the past few weeks, no complaints because I’m so grateful for every single order.

My all natural heating packs seem to be the most popular at this time of year and for good reason! They make great gifts or stocking stuffers and they’re great to invest in for yourself on those achy damp days!

In Other News

With COVID numbers rising significantly [it almost seems like daily now] here in Southern Ontario we’ve been doing our best to stay home as much as possible.

We’re officially in the grey zone and if cases don’t decrease and decrease now we will move into the red zone which means we will be moving into a province wide lock down again.

It does put a damper on the holiday festivities this year but I would rather do what we have to do so we can get back to normal as soon as possible.

What’s been going on with you? What’s the COVID situation where you live? Let me know in the comment section.

Stay well + stay safe loves.

How-to Combat the Winter Blues

Hey heyyy my lovely friends!

For most of us we’ve officially entered the time of year where we have to say good night to the sun sooner, it’s colder, and it’s wet pretty much all the time.

With the year we’ve had and the constant unknown playing a huge toll on the state of everyone’s mental health, now is a good time to prepare for the winter ahead with some tips to help your mind stay happy!

Take Advantage of the Sun

For the limited time of day that we are lucky enough to get daylight (if you can) you should take full advantage of it. The sun gives us many of the vitamins that are needed for a healthy mind, the most important one that many of us are deficient in during the winter months is vitamin D.

When you do sadly lose the sun around 4-5pm, light up the inside of your house with cosy lamps, fairy lights, candles, and turn on your fireplaces! I know some people (mum if you’re reading this I’m talking about you) that can sit in their living room with no lighting on except the TV. Not only is this horrible for your eyes, sitting in the dark will exasperate those winter blue feelings– you need light to feel positive.

Take your Vitties!

Something to think about working into your daily routine is supplements and vitamins to make up for the loss that you normally gain from the sun.

Vitamin D and C are the biggest ones that I would recommend investing in. You could also look into getting a blue light which have proven to be very effective even if used for a minimal portion of the day/evening.

Check out these options for blue lights:

Rest and Relaxation

Supporting your mental health a lot of the times can be as simple as doing small things that make you feel more positive overall. Indulging in comforts and getting out of your head whether that be with meditation or zoning out to a Netflix show.

For me the things that I really look forward to are climbing into cosy comfy sweats, cuddling up on the couch with my girls (a hot bevy in hand of course) and the setting the mood with some candles, fairy lights, and the fireplace. This is my “meditation” and I definitely need it by the end of these dark gloomy days. Featuring a little Netflix of course.

Get Rid of Expectations

Even though it’s looking more and more like we’re going to have a social distant Christmas this year, it’s still important that you uphold and respect your own boundaries.

During the holidays there is pressure to reach out and be around family members that you might not otherwise have anything to do with. This year don’t feel like you have to subject yourself to any toxic energy, *bonus* you can use COVID as a scapegoat.

I hope this post was able to give you some pointers on how to combat those winter blues this season! Stay happy and positive my loves.

Out with the Old, In with the New

Hey hey everyone! I am thrilled to finally be able to bring you this good news. Over the past few months I’ve really felt a shift within my brand and my blog. Unfortunately Nicole’s Niches just isn’t sitting right with the direction of aesthetic the blog has taken, and after much deliberation [with myself] I decided to just do that damn thing– r e b r a n d.

So my loves, it’s officially time to say goodbye to Nicole’s Niches. It’s been a great three years being the face behind this name but as they say, all good things must come to an end. I’m so excited to introduce the new, improved image that the blog is taking on– Cosy Culture Co.

If you’ve been following along with me for the three years I’ve been around, you’ll know how much I adore a comfy outfit and a home that screams hygge– Cosy Culture Co. is an embodiment and extension of my love for those feelings!

Over the past three years my niche and style has changed a ton and I’ve grown a lot as a writer. I will forever be thankful and grateful for the opportunity that Nicole’s Niches has given me and the following that I’ve created, you guys are truly truly amazing! I hope you’ll stick with me during this transition.

As we start this journey I want to invite you to join the brand new private Facebook group which is where you’ll find all things related to the blog, shopping my style, exclusive discount codes, sales, and much more! I don’t always share all the sales, ideas, or life things that are going on to my public accounts but here you’ll see it all!

I wanted to create a group instead of a public page to be able to interact with you lovelies on a more personal level! This fits in so well with my rebrand and is how I want to become a community with all of my readers, you know I love hearing your comments and feedback!

The blog address will remain nicolesniches until December 30th, 2020. Help me welcome the “new” blog while we welcome the new year!

Success! You're on the list.

Oh Mondaze

Hi niche babes!

Happy Fall! This past week has been great just based on the fact that the weather is changing and with it the colours of the leaves on the trees. It was pretty much sweater weather all week, I was definitely in my element.

Last weekend [if you happened to miss the blog post announcement] the love of my life asked me to marry her- and of course I said yes!

Ever since I’ve just been soaking up our engagement. I absolutely love being a fiancée and that eventually I will be married to my best friend! Not to mention I have the prettiest ring and I am adoring all the compliments, good job babe!

We’ve been discussing options for our wedding and we’ve decided whether we have a small wedding or we choose to elope it will be next October. Eeeek I’m going to be a bride!

Last week Tristan ordered me a new phone case because the one I was using was just from the dollar store and she knew how much I’d adore the pattern she picked.

Shout out to Amazon Prime once again for the fastest delivery of the best products! I also started using phone loops instead of pop-sockets and I’m obsessed, the best part is that your phone can lay flat instead of awkwardly sitting on the pop-socket.

I added some really cute pages to my scrapbook as well over the course of last week that I’m super stoked to show you in an upcoming post!

I finally figured out how to create stickers using my Canon Inkjet printer and my Cricut Maker! Total game changer for my little junk journal. I also picked up some new card stock from my one true crafting plug- the Dollar Tree.

We added a new plant member to the family over the past weekend and it was a wish list plant!

I scored this huge Alocasia for only $40!! If you’re a plant lover like myself you’ll understand this steal of a deal!

any name suggestions?

Tristan scored some super cute Halloween decorations from Homesense this past week so we’ve been slowly but surely decorating for fall.

Still on the list is a wreath, some faux greenery, pumpkins, and some spooky pieces for our shelves.

Other than that the past week was spent adulting at work then coming home to make dinner and snuggle up on the couch with some Netflix!

How was your week?
