Tips for Designing Your Summer Patio

This past week has been full of sunshine, warm breezes, and soul lifting animal chirps. Spring fever has officially set in and I can not wait to get our patio ready for this spring and summer. Last year we put in a lot of work and did a ton of DIY projects around our yard. Our grass was patchy, the shed needed to be painted, garden bed needed to be redone [along with the accent fence behind it] and we also needed to create a cosy spot to sit and relax. We managed to achieve all of this and I learned some really great outdoor styling tips that I’m excited to share with y’all today!

Dining and Seating

Much like the kitchen in your home, the dining area of your patio is the heart of the space because that’s where you’ll gather with friends and family to share a delicious meal, drinks, and lots of conversation and laughter. That being said let’s start off with figuring out what type of seating you’d like to incorporate! There’s many different styles of outdoor furniture to choose from so whether you prefer a more modern look or a total bohemian vibe, you’ll be sure to find dining and seating options in a range of design.

1/ Metal patio linen love seat + matching chairs

2/ Outdoor dining table rattan & glass

3/ Hanging rope chair

4/ Outdoor rattan table with wood top

5/ Natural outdoor durban lounge chair

6/ Metal Windsor table and chairs

7/ Riviera Bench

8/ Southport lounge chairs

Whether you’re hosting family and friends or you’re like me and just love to spend the day outside — there are ton’s of tableware options so that you can bring out all the comforts such as food and drinks without them spoiling. Last summer I also invested in some really pretty outdoor plates, cups and trays, they’re high grade plastic so that I don’t have to worry about anything breaking if we drop it on the concrete patio.

1/ Outdoor table lamp

2/ Plastic oval drink tub

3/ Rustic Outdoor Melamine 12-Piece Dinnerware Set

4/ Fifth Fountain Coral 12-Piece Melamine Dinnerware Set

5/ Better Homes & Gardens Outdoor Melamine Grey Terazzo Dinnerware Set

Fire Table or Bonfire Cauldron

There’s nothing like a warm and cosy bonfire on those chilly summer nights after the sun goes down. Break out the marshmallows and if you’re feeling fancy some chocolate and gram crackers for s’mores! You have a few options when it comes to a “fire pit” and the styles range from super boujee to very modern. You could also do a DIY fire feature and build it into the ground by digging a hole and lining it with brick!

1/ Square fire table

2/ Concrete fire pit

3/ Propane fire pit table

4/ Firestone square slate fire pit

5/ Round wood burning fire pit

Outdoor Accessories

Last but not least, the accessories are definitely the finishing touch that will bring everything together.

1/ Umbrella canopy with fringe

2/ Plaid indoor/outdoor rug

3/ Tropical palm drink cooler

4/ Safavieh outdoor rug

5/ Globe string lights

I hope that this post put you in serious outdoor mode — we’re spending the next few days getting our patio put back together and I could not be more excited!
